Software Engineer (Data) Permanent

Our client is a fast-growing startup that is transforming the way data is collected, processed, and analyzed in the food and beverage industry. They are seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer with an interest in data, to join their team and help them build and scale their back-end data infrastructure. As a software engineer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining software applications that process, store, and retrieve large amounts of data. You will also be required to have a strong background in data engineering, with the ability to design and implement efficient data pipelines, data warehousing, and other data-related systems that power their platform. You will have the opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies and make a real impact on their product.

Key Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with a team to build a robust data platform that supports their fast-growing business.
• Use various technologies including Python, Django, Azure, and Snowflakes to build and maintain their data platform.
• Implement techniques for data ingestion and refinement to capture and process large volumes of data from multiple sources.
• Develop and maintain the infrastructure that supports their data platform, utilizing cloud technologies such as Azure for high availability, scalability, and flexibility.
• Create and maintain internal tooling, including tools for data analysis, visualization, and reporting, to help their team work more efficiently and effectively.
• Ensure that the data platform is reliable, scalable, and efficient, and can handle the growing demands of their business.
• Monitor and manage the data platform, troubleshooting and resolving issues as needed to ensure optimal performance.
• Keep up-to-date with industry trends and best practices, incorporating new technologies and techniques as appropriate to enhance their data platform.

Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in software engineering or a related field, with a focus on back-end development and preferably some interest in data engineering.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with Django, SQL, data modeling, and database design.
• Hands-on experience with distributed data processing technologies such as Spark, Hadoop, or Flink.
• Experience with cloud-based data storage and processing platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
• Desire to work in a startup or other fast-paced, dynamic environment.
• Passion for learning and staying up-to-date with the latest data engineering trends and technologies.
