The Role:
They are seeking a highly skilled Senior Database Administrator with extensive experience in Microsoft SQL Server and Azure. The ideal candidate will also have strong proficiency in Python and hands-on experience with Azure Functions. You will be responsible for managing and optimizing their database servers, databases, and tables ensuring data integrity, security, and performance.
Responsibilities:
– Design, implement, and maintain Microsoft SQL Server databases in Azure.
– Optimize database performance and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
– Collaborate with development teams to implement best practices for database design and management.
– Develop and maintain Azure Functions to automate database-related tasks.
– Monitor database health, perform regular backups, and implement disaster recovery strategies.
– Ensure compliance with data governance and security policies.
Qualifications:
– Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or relevant experience.
– 5+ years of experience as a Database Administrator, specifically with Microsoft SQL Server.
– Strong expertise in Azure SQL Database and Azure-related services.
– Experience with Azure Functions for cloud-based application development.
– Solid understanding of database security, backup, and recovery strategies.
– Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
– Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
– Able to commute to downtown Chicago 4 times a week.
Preferred Skills:
– Proficiency in Python programming for scripting and automation.
– Experience with other database technologies (e.g. Redis) is a plus.
– Experience in the financial sector.
– Knowledge of performance tuning and query optimization techniques.
