The Investment Performance Solution
Within our client, the Investment Performance (IP) solution is centered around the development, implementation and support of their PEARL software platform. Their solution enables our clients to analyze and report on the performance of investment portfolios, and to gain insight into how different investment strategies and decisions contributed to the total result of a portfolio. PEARL is used by a growing number of leading investment organizations across the globe.
The position of Oracle Database Developer
As Oracle Database Developer, you are part of the Database development team within the IP Engineering division. Together with experienced colleagues you will work on the development and maintenance of the PEARL database and the calculation engine that runs on it. You will work closely with other Engineering teams (front and backend web development, business support) on system-wide features and deployment related tasks. The team works based on Agile development principles.
Your daily work will include among others:
• Coordinate and develop features and user stories
• Contribute to technical QA topics such as unit testing and performance tuning
• Contribute to the technical refinement of features and stories, by translating functional
requirements into a technical implementation strategy:
o Translate reporting wishes to changes in calculations and algorithms
o Design data models, e.g. for new configuration parameters and output data structures
o Design data flows through the application
• Participate in estimation and planning sessions.
Who are you
• You hold a master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or another technical or
exact field;
• You have at least 5 years of experience with Oracle Database development, including:
o Logical and physical database design;
o Using, writing, debugging and testing complex SQL statements and PL/SQL algorithms in
stored procedures;
o Using unit tests to validate your work;
o Performance tuning and supporting application debugging;
o ETL, reporting processes and/or Java ORM techniques.
• You are familiar with Agile software development processes (e.g. scrum) and version control /
testing / deployment tooling (e.g. Git, JIRA, Jenkins, MS Azure DevOps).
• Proven experience with quantitative analysis and mathematical programming, preferably within
fintech, is considered a strong advantage.
In addition:
• You have the ability to quickly understand requirements and use cases of our clients;
• You are able to work independently and have a drive to deliver high quality software;
• You possess strong verbal and written communication skills, in English (required) and Dutch
(advantage);
